Language Policy and the New Speaker Challenge

In this webinar, Professor Colin H Williams presents an overview and summary of his new book Language Policy and the New Speaker Challenge: Hiding in Plain Sight. The book investigates the concept of 'new speakers' in relation to language policy in Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Catalonia, Galicia, the Basque Autonomous Community, and Navarre.

Following Colin's presentation, there will be a discussion about language policy and 'new speakers' involving Rob Dunbar, Stuart Dunmore and Wilson McLeod (Edinburgh University), Kathryn Jones (IAITH: Welsh Centre for Language Planning), Maite Puigdevall a Joan Pujolar (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya), John Walsh (University of Galway), Bernadette O'Rourke (Glasgow University) and members of the audience.
