Language Planners Wales have presented their response to the Welsh Government’s public consultation Brexit and Our Land

Brexit and Our Land

LPW’s response offers 8 recommendations that include the need to:

  • make sustaining the Welsh language in our rural communities one of the strategic aims and a central principle of any proposed new plans;
  • conduct a full Welsh language impact assessment in relation to any proposed plans;
  • collect detailed data regarding the significant connection between the agricultural sector and the Welsh language and/ or establish a strategy for doing so;
  • ensure that the benefits of Welsh are fully considered when the Government defines the ‘public goods’ it expects the ‘land management’ sector to produce in the future.
