Welsh for Kids, Welsh Government

05 April 2016

IAITH has appreciated greatly the opportunity it has been afforded by the past Welsh Language Board and Welsh Government to establish and develop the Twf project over the past 15 years and the Tyfu gyda’r Gymraeg project over the past 3 years. We believe that we have made a significant positive impact on the transmission rates of Welsh within families during that period, as well as raising the profile of the Welsh language within the context of early parenting.

Twf attracted international recognition for its pioneering work and its supportive and effective local engagement. We are indebted to all the committed members of staff who were key to the success of both projects over the years. We also thank all the midwives and health visitors and other community workers all over Wales for their effective and constructive partnership work.

We wish Mudiad Meithrin and Welsh Government well as they establish and promote the Welsh for Kids project during the next few years. No doubt the project will continue to provide parents in Wales with the best possible support as they strive to ensure the use of Welsh within their homes, their families and their local neighbourhoods.
