Radical Plan for Gaelic

24 October 2018

Misneachd have produced a 'Radical Plan for Gaelic' written in response to the official National Gaelic Plan launched earlier this year.

Radical Plan for Gaelic

Misneachd (meaning 'courage' or 'confidence') are a voluntary activist group established in 2016 with the aim of pushing for significantly strengthened support for the Gaelic language. Although active branches are currently confined to Edinburgh and Glasgow, there are members throughout Scotland. Their Plana Radaigeach airson na Gàidhhlig (Radical Plan for Gaelic) was written as a response to the official National Gaelic Plan launched earlier this year, and with the goal of drawing attention to the extremely precarious position of the language in its heartland communities, an issue which the group felt receives far too little attention in official policy and the wider discourse around the language.
