The ‘Continuity Project’ is one of IAITH’s most recent project. This pilot project is funded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. IAITH were successful in winning the contract in December 2014 and began delivering the project in January 2015.

The aim is to work with pupils in years 9, and 10 encouraging them to consider the advantages of Welsh language higher education, as to increase the number of students who choose to study thorugh the medium of Welsh. This project will work with pupils, teachers and parent.

The two schools in Carmarthenshire working with IAITH over the next period are Ysgol Gyfun Maes y Gwendraeth and Ysgol Gyfun y Strade.   Sgiliaith will be hosting the project in Gwynedd and the Urdd will be working with two schools in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The project will highlight the advantages of having fluent Welsh language skills. During the project (until July 2016) Siwan Tomos and Linda Evans will deliver a range of activities to promote the project’s aims and objectives. These activities will include promotion events, education and training sessions and marketing exercises.

We will also be approaching pupils outside the school environment through youth groups, leisure activities and residential events by working closely with partner youth organisations in the area.
