Aim:

The aim of this training is to provide a practical session looking at available resources to facilitate the use of Welsh on the computer.  

Audience:  This training is intended for

  • Individuals who use Welsh in their day to day work;
  • Individuals who are new to a bilingual/Welsh language workplace who want to use Welsh on their computer. 

Content:

An introduction to all the IT resources available to facilitate the use of Welsh. The workshop will look at:

  • Cysgliad,
  • To Bach,
  • Spellcheck
  • Microsoft, 
  • Digital dictionaries
  • Terminology resources.

Learning outcomes:

Attendees will acquire information on

  • IT resources available to facilitate the use of Welsh
  • How to use IT resources
  • How to gain access to the resources for use within their own workplaces. 

Training Provider:

Canolfan Bedwyr

Canolfan Bedwyr is Bangor University’s centre of excellence for Welsh Language Services, Research and Technology. In addition to its core function of supporting and facilitating the use of the Welsh in the university itself, the centre also provides external training and develops resources for the Welsh language.

The centre is responsible for Cysgliad, a package containing a Welsh language spellchecker, a grammar checker, and a collection of comprehensive dictionaries
