Introduction to research methods

The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to research methods and fieldwork.  This training is designed for people working in the field of language policy and planning in particular but is also open to all.  

There will be an opportunity to develop your research skills by considering:

  • basic research principles
  • preparing research questions
  • creating a research sample
  • techniques for collecting information, opinion and attitudes
  • strengths and limitations of different methods

This one day session will be tailored to the specific needs of participants.

There will aslo be an opportunity to discuss ethical issues and ways of complying with 1998 Data Protection Act requirements.
