Prof Colin Williams joins IAITH team

IAITH are pleased to announce that one of its honorary patrons, Prof. Colin H Williams, will be is forging a closer relationship with the Centre as an Associate Consultant.


Colin Williams is one of Wales’ foremost language planners and enjoys an international reputation. After a successful academic career leading to developing a significant language policy and planning capacity at Cardiff University’s School of Welsh, Prof Williams has been accepted as Visiting Professor and Fellow at Cambridge University. Whilst at St Edmund’s College, one of Cambridge’s research colleges, he will conduct an individual research project into the effectiveness of language revitalisation strategies in four countries – Canada, Finland, Scotland and Wales.

Having Colin Williams on board as an Associate Consultant will be a plus for IAITH and our clients. We look forward to developing opportunities for future collaboration”.

Interest in promoting regional and lesser-used languages is increasing throughout Europe and IAITH is pleased to be able to contribute to that development, e.g. our recent work in Cornwall, Finland and within European networks”.
